Lord, the day is done. The dishes are in the sink, or maybe they are put away, and I am finally still. Thank You for carrying me through today, through the moments I noticed You and the many I did not.
I give You back the parts of today I wish had gone differently: the sharp word I said, the call I did not return, the thing I meant to finish and did not. Forgive me where I fell short. Help me make it right tomorrow where I can, and let me leave the rest with You.
Thank You for the small good things: a kind text, a warm meal, a moment of laughter, a safe drive home. Let me fall asleep remembering those instead of replaying my worries. Watch over the people I love tonight, near and far, and be close to anyone who is lying awake and afraid.
Quiet my mind. Relax my shoulders. I will lay me down in peace and sleep, because You alone make me dwell in safety. Give me real rest, and wake me tomorrow ready for whatever You have for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.”
Psalm 4:8 (KJV)
