Lord, it is late and my mind will not be quiet. I have gone over the same worries so many times tonight that they have worn a groove in me: the test results, the conversation I dread, the what-ifs that grow bigger in the dark. You already know every one of them. I am bringing them to You because I cannot carry them on my own anymore.
You told me to be careful for nothing and to bring everything to You in prayer, with thanksgiving. So here is my list, Father. I name each fear and set it in Your hands. And here is my thanks, small as it is: for this bed, for the breath in my lungs, for the people who love me, for the fact that You are awake when I am.
Slow my breathing. Loosen the knot in my chest. When my thoughts start to spin again, bring me back to one true thing: You are with me, and You are good. Give me the peace that does not make sense on paper, the kind that guards my heart and mind before anything around me has changed.
Show me the next small step for tomorrow, and help me leave the rest for tomorrow too. If I need to call a doctor or talk with someone, give me the courage to do it. I rest in You now. In Jesus' name, Amen.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
